"Dey Sarkar Family Rath Yatra"
Rath Yatra was started in the year of 1894 (129 years). Rath was first built up by one of the “PROJA” (people) of Shri Ramanath Dey Sarkar.
The priest for 1st Rath Yatra was the ancestor of Bhattacharjee family and after that the priest of Midnapore Rajbari Shri Kalipada Chakraborty started to worship and now his son continues for last 30 years.
In the year 1952, the Rath was rebuilt by artisan from Barishal.
Till date the 4 descendent of the family is carrying the tradition.
Rebuilding Of Rath
History behind starting of RathYatra:
It was known that aforesaid PROJA of Shri Ramanath Dey Sarkar, suffered from deadly diseases and he thought if he could build the rath and could worship then he might get relief from his diseases. But unfortunately he died and before that he handed over the Rath to Shri Ramanath Dey Sarkar and later that was built by Shri Ramanath Dey Sarkar and started “RATH YATRA” at Baishnab ghata in the year of 1903.
